Dsc02303 Reyniès is a village where you can admire 132 art deco houses.
Following the devastating flooding of the Tarn in 1930, the village was given a new face in 1933.
Solid houses made of concrete and stone display their Art Deco facades, a style favoring straight lines and geometric shapes.
They feature bow windows, interlacing roofs and verandas, pediments, gables, delicate friezes and genoises. All in shades of red, blue, dark gray or flamboyant yellow.

Dsc03244Château deReyniès, built in 1269, became a historic monument in 1975. Once owned by Pierre de Latour, a Protestant who helped defend the town during the siege of 1621, it was destroyed by the Catholics the following year. Rebuilt on the original foundations around 1650, the Marquis de Reyniès had the château raised by one storey in 1786, giving it its current appearance.
