The museum boasts a large collection ofbirds, mammals and fossils from the phosphorites of Quercy (Lot), as well as a fragment of the famous Orgueil meteorite, which fell near Montauban in 1864.
Today housed in the former Palais de la Cour des Aides, the Victor Brun Museum project was launched in 1852 by members of the Société des Sciences (Agriculture et Belles Lettres du Tarn-et-Garonne), who wanted to make their private collections available to the people of Montalban.
Appointed curator in 1857, Victor Brun was not only a naturalist, but also a member of the Société and the owner of most of the Museum’s collections.
