Cross the threshold of the Carmes temple, and discover the garden at its heart, enveloped by the arches of the cloister. Fruit trees, vegetables, medicinal plants, spices, condiments and flowers blossom peacefully. An intimate and serene interlude.

A little history

If you look closely at the four cross-vaulted facades and galleries, you’ll be reminded of those of the Place Nationale, with its monumental pilasters, the profile of the arches and the stone tables. An inscription above the central archway facing the entrance is dedicated to Intendant Foucault, recognized as a benefactor of theCarmelite Order. Let yourself be transported back in time by the religious maxims inscribed on the walls. Precious relics of the time when the sisters of Notre-Dame-de-Charité-du-Refuge founded an establishment for young girls here (1841).
