Street art by MOG

Marika – MOG – Gysbers is a French artist, originally from Pau. Two of her works can be seen in the streets of Montauban.

The artist uses a process called VIVRATION® for his frescoes. This is a color vibration process that combines aerosol paint and variable LED lighting.

MOG’s work is inspired by portraits of emblematic figures. In Montauban, these are two female figures, Olympe de Gouges and Ingres’ painting La Source .

Located opposite the Théâtre Olympe de Gouges – 4 place Lefranc de Pompignan – the artist has created a tribute to Olympe de Gouges, the famous Montalban woman and author of the Déclaration des droits de la femme et de la citoyenne. This pioneering feminist continues to inspire history, almost three centuries after her death.

The fact that this portrait is located opposite the theater that bears her name is of course a powerful symbol of Olympe’s importance to Montalban’s heritage.

Rue de l’Union Compagnonnique, Montauban.

For its second creation in the pinkest of pink towns, MOG drew its inspiration from one of Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres’ most famous works, La Source, 1820-1856, on view at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. The original painting depicts a nude woman holding a jar pouring water.

This work has already inspired other street-artists (such as Invaders ), but MOG once again brings its full palette of colors to a monumental work that spans an entire building.
