100Taur and its wall paintings

We recommend that you start your artistic journey in the city center by discovering a local artist’s atypical works.

You’ll be amazed by these gigantic representations of chimeras inspired by nature and mythology.

The first monumental fresco by artist 100Taur can be found on rue Porte du Moustier.

Since then, the artist has delivered three other murals inspired by works by Ingres: Ossian’s Dream, Roger Delivering Angelica and Oedipus and the Sphinx.

Invader is an artist from Montpellier who has taken the world by storm with his mosaics inspired by the aliens in the popular 80s video game of the same name.

The artist chooses his locations according to various criteria: aesthetic or tactical. Invader’s approach can be summed up in three points: the encounter between mosaic and pixel, the transposition of the video game into reality, and a process ofinvasion on a planetary scale.

As for his invasion of Montauban, it took place in August 2009 with the ” Ingres and the Moderns ” exhibition at the Musée Ingres.

Sculpture in the city

a whole history

You’re bound to come across sculptures by another “local”:Antoine Bourdelle. Step by step, you’ll admire a total of ten bronze works: Sapho playing the melody, Penelopewaiting for her Ulysses, and the enigmatic Dernier Centaure.

Yesterday’s artists inspire today’s artists along the unveiled walkways.

From the Esplanade des Fontaines, discover Cleopatra by Flavio de Faveri, then head up towards the wave in homage to Camille Claudel. A little further on, at the kiosk, admire the monumental arrows that appear to have been fired by theHeracles rising from the earth, installed on the belvedere overlooking the Jardin des Plantes.
