PhotographeThe heart of the town, where most of the old town’s streets converge. The square is one of France’s oldest urban squares. Tourists and Montalbanais alike gather under the arcades to enjoy a coffee on the terrace and admire the easily recognizable pink brickwork.
Come and meet two famous Montalbanais, Ingres and Bourdelle. The rooms of the MIB are a treasure trove of discoveries not to be missed. Here a sculpture, there a painting… An experience not to be missed by the whole family.
Opened in 1854, the museum boasts a fine collection of mammals, fish and insects, as well as 2,661 naturalized birds! On the unusual side, you’ll also find a fragment of the famous Orgueil meteorite, which fell near Montauban in 1864.

A peaceful place to stroll just a few minutes from the town center, Port Canal is the marina of the Cité d’Ingres. Accompanied by a basket full of victuals and a beautiful checkered tablecloth, settle down under the trees at the water’s edge for a family picnic.
Montauban is an open-air museum. A dozen or so works of art can be admired along the streets, created by local and international artists such as 100Taur, MOG, Invaders… Go on a graffiti hunt.
