Winter cycling escapes :

The other face of Montauban

Imagine a winter’s morning, when the fresh, crisp air invites you to hop on your bike. Wrapped up in your warm clothes and a cosy scarf, you set off to discover our beautiful town and its surrounding countryside, which takes on a special charm under the grey skies and soft light of this season.

To reach the Bressols gap, your walk begins along the banks of the Tarn, where the river meanders peacefully. Along the quays where the sun is just beginning to rise, tinting the sky with shades of orange and pink. The reflection of the lights on the water creates a magical atmosphere.

Branch off along the green bike path, where the trees, stripped of their leaves, offer an unobstructed view of the canal. The sound of wheels on asphalt mingles with birdsong, creating a soothing melody. Occasionally, a light mist rises from the water, adding a touch of mystery to your journey.

As you cycle along, you’re immediately enveloped by the beauty of the gorges, whose rock faces rise majestically on either side. The colors of the cliffs, often tinged with shades of ochre and brown, contrast with the blue of the winter sky, creating a striking tableau. Occasionally, touches of frost glisten on the rocks, adding an enchanting dimension to this already impressive landscape.

For seasoned cyclists, more than 500 kilometers of adventure await you from Montauban! All the way to Montluçon in Allier, via Lot, Corrèze and Creuse. Discover the peaceful, enchanting landscapes of the plains and hills of Tarn et Garonne. Pass through picturesque villages where time seems to stand still.
