A family weekend in Montauban

An unexpected experience in the city of Ingres
A vacation to be enjoyed in the pinkest of pink towns!

Follow the Mayer family on their Montauban adventure! Clément Claire and their children Lucie and Tom set off to discover Montauban.

Day 1

Discover the pink city

A fun tour

Musée Ingres Bourdelle

We were curious to discover what lay behind this impressive episcopal palace, which honors two famous Montalban painters: Ingres and Bourdelle. Clément really enjoyed discovering that behind the history lay a modern museum, while Lucie was carried along by Jadi, the museum’s hippogriff mascot, who made the visit fun. All along the way, riddles were hidden for Lucie to solve, and she loved it!

A refreshing moment

Place nationale

Arriving at the Place Nationale, we were overwhelmed by the charm of the pink bricks. A magnificent square that is hard to imagine having been devastated by two fires in the 17th century. Its water mirror offered a refreshing moment that delighted the whole family! We then decided to discover the local gastronomy in a restaurant located under the arcades. We really enjoyed sampling the local cuisine in this exceptional setting.

On the shores of Port Canal

A magical evening

At the end of the day, we headed for Port Canal to enjoy our evening in idyllic surroundings. An open-air restaurant satisfied everyone’s cravings. What’s more, there was a show – the kids loved it!

We stayed in a charming gîte that Clément had spotted on the outskirts of town. It’s a little country house that really made an impression on us.

Day 2

A breath of fresh air

The hidden wonders

Discovering Street Art

Tom had stars in his eyes. Thanks to the Baludik app, we were able to search for hidden wonders in Montauban and solve riddles. Monumental frescoes by local artist 100taur amazed us, as did the Space Invaders hidden all over the city. At lunchtime, it was like being at the movies in a bistro-restaurant on Place du Coq, with the atmosphere of the film Les Tontons Flingueurs.

An afternoon at the water's edge

Bike ride in Port Canal

The kids were full of energy, so we decided to rent bikes and head for Port Canal. With the sun shining so brightly, the setting was ideal for pedaling, plus the path is reserved for gentle travel, so the kids were able to move along in complete safety. We admired the locks and boats along the way, and the whole family enjoyed the ride. A final breath of fresh air before setting off.
